Von einer kleinen, in NS-Uniformen gekleideten Gruppe Mickey Maus-Soldaten mit Kopfverband begleitet, begab man sich in den linken Flügel des pompösen Gebäudes, wo der zweite Teil der Austellung wartete. Bezog sich der erste Teil ausschließlich auf MANSONs Wassermalereien, konnten dort in beeindruckender Größe u.A. die Cover zu "T.G.A.O.G." und "Mobscene" bestaunt werden, die in Zusammenarbeit mit dem Wiener Künstler Gottfried Helnwein enstanden sind. Dieser ließ sich auch nicht lumpen und erschien höchstpersönlich, um sich an der Führung zu beteiligten und Autogramme zu geben.

Del disagio del pubblico di fronte a bambini non rappresentati come innocenti e ai quali si attribuisca marcatamente un’identità (e una consapevolezza) sessuale è ben conscio l’artista austriaco Gottfried Helnwein che, soprattutto nei lavori su carta, ha creato alcune tra le più potenti e conturbanti rappresentazioni della storia dell’arte, di infanzia abusata. Ma non certo d’abuso da codice penale si tratta. Quel che viene denunciata è la manipolazione puntuale, l’introduzione forzata (The intrusion), a opera degli adulti, nel corpo sociale dell’infanzia, che viene così snaturato, svuotato di quelle naturalissime pulsioni che ci si ostina a non riconoscere, a negare. Di fronte a esse Helnwein non solo non distoglie lo sguardo, non indietreggia, ma ne cattura l’essenza, la forza, e la porge allo spettatore le cui certezze cominciano a vacillare, come avviene all’uomo in The doubting Thomas, inginocchiato di fronte alla bambina e col capo accoccolato sulle sue ginocchia in segno d’abbandono, di prostrazione assoluta. E ancora in Untitled (1993) sono messi in scena, al contempo, il riconoscimento della “fluidità”, dell’inafferrabilità infantile e la volontà di costringerle entro una fissità rassicurante. Numerosi sono anche i lavori, sia fotografici che pittorici, in cui bambine vengono rappresentate con delle fasciature che ne coprono, anche integralmente, il capo e le mani (la tattilità) tentando, attraverso la recisione sensoriale, di impedirne il contatto “immediato” col mondo, la presa sul mondo. Tentando, cioè, di ricacciare indietro quella sensualità contagiosa, incontenibile, che i sensi infantili potrebbero proiettare su di esso (cfr. Beautiful victim II e il più volte ripreso Child of light). ...

Der ehemalige Fotojournalist Brian Warner, der 1989 beschloss, sich in Marilyn Manson umzubenennen und sich hierfür Teile der Namen von Marilyn Monroe und Charles Manson borgte, kehrt mit dem Longplayer The Golden Age Of Grotesque in gewohnter Shocking-Manier in den Rockzirkus zurück. M magazine traf Manson und den österreichischen Künstler Gottfried Helnwein, der mit ihm das kontroverse Artwork des neuen Albums kreierte, in der Berliner Volksbühne. Begleitet wurde die Albumpräsentation der anderen Art von zwei Ausstellungen. In einer zeigte der aus Florida stammende Manson seine Malereien, die zweite widmete sich dem Album-Artwork, für das Helnwein verantwortlich zeichnet. Diese wird in Folge auch als Ausstellung um den Globus wandern und dabei auch in Wien Halt machen. ...

"The Beautiful People" presents Manson as a ghostly, 13’- tall dictator in Fascist garb, flanked by equally tall obsidian angels as he rules over saluting citizens who gaze upon him with blank, hollow-eyed stares. Intercut with these shots are equally disturbing scenes of Manson strapped to a sadomasochistic orthodontic contraption that recalls the horrifically macabre milieus of Austrian painter Gottfried Helnwein. ...

Marilyn Manson hat im Oracle (www.marilynmanson.com) auf eine von mansonfreak1989 gestellte Frage so beantwortet:
"I will film the second video (a secret now) in Vienna with Gottfried Helnwein. Lily cannot come to Europe though, but she will wait for my postcards."
Wo und Wann er in Wien drehen will ist bis jetzt noch nicht bekannt. Was wirklich an der Antwort dran ist wirt sich Zeigen.

Erst 2001 war Marilyn Manson in Europa.
Canton/Ohio (tk) - Die deutschen Reaktionen auf sein neues Album "The Golden Age Of Grotesque" erwartet Marilyn Manson sicherlich mit besonderer Spannung. Der Schockrocker scheint seit neuestem Gefallen am europäischen Kulturerbe zu finden. Für die Gestaltung des Covers holte sich der selbst ernannte Antichrist Hilfe vom Wiener Gottfried Helnwein, einem seiner Lieblingskünstler. Gottfried ist als Maler mit seinem photorealistischen und provozierenden Stil bekannt geworden.
Vor einem Monat enthüllten die beiden vor der Villa der Osbournes erstmals zwei Kunstwerke einer Sammlung, die Manson mit auf die "Ozzfest"-Tour nehmen wird. Die deutsche Metal-Band Rammstein wird ebenfalls auf dem neuen Album mitwirken. Die Berliner werden den Song "mOBSCENE" remixen.
Manson, mit bürgerlichem Namen Brian Huge Warner, begründete die neue Facette in seiner Musik damit, dass ihn die erotische Kunst in der Weimarer Republik, der Glamour der 30er Jahre in Hollywood und das Groteske am Varieté sehr inspirierten. So ist zum Beispiel auf einem der Werke von Helnwein ein Portrait von Manson mit Mickey Mouse Ohren zu sehen.

"Bambini e pistole sono oggi un grande sbocco nella socie e lo sono particolarmente in America" spiega Helnwein. "Un aspetto di queste immagini si riferisce agli spari della Columbine High School, per i quali Manson stato incolpato. Ed ora il paese intero sta andando a fare la guerra. L'America adora le armi. Ogni giorno sentite parlare di abusi di bambini. Ci sono questi casi con la chiesa cattolica di Roma. Stiamo vivendo in una socie pazzesca. Io Credo che un vero artista rifletta sempre lo stato della socie in cui vive". ...

Outside the Osbournes’ mansion last week, Manson and modernist Viennese artist Gottfried Helnwein premiered two paintings from a collection that will be used as The Golden Age Of Grotesque’s artwork and will travel with the singer. Inspired by the glamour of 1930s Hollywood, the grotesque of vaudeville and the erotic art movement in Weimar Berlin, the pieces are disturbing portraits of Manson wearing the classic Mickey Mouse ears hat.
