During the tour, curator Blake Milteer stopped the group in front of German artist Gottfried Helnwein’s “Epiphany” (“Adoration of the Magi”). In the large-scale piece that resembles a documentary black and white photograph, a Madonnaesque mother displays her baby to attentive Nazi officers. The baby’s likeness to Hitler is uncanny. Despite, or perhaps because of the distinctly sinister overtones in the piece, it’s easy to be drawn in by the piece.

Some of the biggest names in contemporary art are coming to the Denver Art Museum as part of an unprecedented year-long lecture series., funded by internationally known collectors Vicki and Kent Logan of Vail.
The lineup, titled "Logan Lectures 2007," will feature 10 major artists from around the world whose works are on view in the museum's new $110 million Hamilton Building. “Face it”, Gottfried Helnweins erste Museumsausstellung in Österreich seit mehr als 20 Jahren, verzeichnete grosses Interesse beim Publikum. 38.000 Besucher lockte die am Pfingstmontag zu Ende gegangene Ausstellung von Gottfried Helnwein in drei Monaten ins Lentos. „Face It“, so deren Titel, ist damit die meistbesuchte Schau eines zeitgenössischen Künstlers im Linzer Kunstmuseum. Mit 11.000 Besuchern allein im März machte sie diesen Monat zum drittstärksten seit der Lentos-Eröffnung. Nicht alle Leihgaben treten übrigens den Rückweg nach Los Angeles bzw.
